World Film Premiere & Pre-screening Talk with Producer

May 24, 2022 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm EDT

Sucheta Kamath, Founder & CEO, ExQ® hosts a Global Short Film Premiere Virtual Screening of Beacon The Film, with a pre-screening talk with the film’s Producer, Isara Krieger.

Beacon is both a Short Film and forthcoming feature documentary film (2022) that follows three students as they make the leap across the education gap:

Meleah, Makai and Exavion are Boston-area public middle-schoolers who by 8th grade rank far below their suburban peers. They take a chance entering Beacon Academy, a 14- month program between middle and high school that aims to help public school students prepare to apply to some of the best private high schools in the country.

Join Sucheta Kamath and Isara Krieger as they discuss thought provoking questions such as:
What are the factors that are critical for students to transform during these transitional opportunities?

How can we enhance and improve our community and educational efforts to help students build self-agency in order to fully engage in the learning supports provided in their educational journey?

How do we help our students learn how to develop the transformational self-reflection skills they need to thrive during times of change and transition?

What are the common skills all students need to cope with stress, trauma, and the cultural / socio-economic issues that often interrupt traditional learning?

Can teaching Executive Function and social-emotional skills help close gaps in unfinished learning and balance structural equity issues in our learning systems?

Part Four of a four-part series.

Attend all four events and earn a Professional Development Certification in Leading Education with Executive Function.
