Partnership for Awareness Event

Partnership for Awareness (PfA) is a non-profit organization working to elevate the issues the youth in our community face today, and work with parents in the community to create solutions to empower youth with the skills they need to succeed. The non- profit organization, in coordination with schools in our communities, work to educate, advise, and empower parents and youth in areas such as self-esteem, internet safety, social media, bullying, drug and alcohol abuse, and more. As the social issues of the moment evolve, PfA hopes to be ready to equip and assist in a relevant way.

Attracting more than 300 parents and educational leaders, the Partnership for Awareness event brings together community leaders and parents to network and learn about the latest developments in education. Sucheta’s talk is entitled The Boss Brain: Pro-EF (Executive Function) parenting strategies that foster  self-awareness and independence in kids and teens. In this presentation, Sucheta will help parents understand the cognitive and emotional processes behind the developing pre-frontal cortex, emerging Executive Function (EF) proficiency and the best ways to turn everyday learning obstacles into meaningful growth in children and teens who need to become future-forward thinkers. Attendees will benefit from several outcomes including:

  • Understanding the role of the “boss brain” or the frontal lobes and emergence of Executive Function in helping develop independent and self-sufficient children
  • Identifying the life-long implication of strong Executive Function 6100 Lake Forrest Drive NE Suite #108 Atlanta, GA 30328 USA
  • Learning three evidence-based Executive Function strategies that strengthen resilience through emotional courage, mindfulness, and open-minded adaptive flexibility

Based on 25 years of hands-on experience in partnering with schools, Sucheta Kamath shares, “I’m excited to partner with Partnership for Awareness to empower our students with the skills they need to thrive, not only in our schools, but in life. By teaming up to teach our students Executive Function skills, our kids will learn strategies for becoming resilient, engaged, collaborative thinkers, contributors and caring citizens. Together, we can help our all of our students become advocates for their own educational journey and enable them with equitable strategies they need to develop a lifelong passion for learning.”

About Partnership for Awareness: Partnership for Awareness originated with a group of concerned parents who gathered to discuss concerns regarding drug and alcohol abuse within the youth community. From this beginning, a Committee on Substance Abuse was formed, which later evolved into the creation of a tax-exempt organization, Parent Alert, in 1982. By 1984, Partnership for Awareness was established and its mission today remains remarkably similar to the vision of its founders: To increase awareness of critical issues challenging the health and wellbeing of San Marino youth; to identify and address such issues in cooperative partnership with parents, students, educators and community groups; and to provide a forum to educate the San Marino community (both adults and children) with knowledge and skills to facilitate the successful navigation of these important issues.
